After 6 years of living and teaching in Knoxville, TN, I've decided to return home to Texas. Beginning this June of 2020, I will be starting up a vocal and piano studio in Houston, TX. This summer I will be offering online lessons through Zoom for the Conroe, Woodlands, Spring and Cypress areas. If you are interested in starting lessons this summer, feel free to check out my summer lesson flyer below and contact me via my email or cell to set up a lesson slot.
Lindsey Fuson has been teaching private voice and piano lessons for the past 11 years. She began her own private studio three years ago at Seymour High School in Knoxville Tennessee and has 40 students in her current studio. Previously, she taught an introduction to singing course and individual vocal lessons for two years through her graduate teaching assistantship with the University of Tennessee where she received her Master's Degree in Vocal Performance with an emphasis in Vocal Pedagogy. She also taught voice and beginner piano lessons through 6 Strings Music Academy and All About Music in Houston, TX along with teaching multiple students independently. Most recently, Lindsey Fuson was chosen as a 2018 recipient of the Joan Frey Boytim Award for Independent Voice Teachers through the National Association of Teachers of Singing and attended the 55th annual NATS National Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Voice Lessons:
I specialize in teaching classical voice lessons, but I have also taught many musical theater and pop vocal students throughout my career. I believes that all three styles can be taught through healthy vocal technique that will enhance a student's vocal ability and longevity. My main philosophy for teaching voice is tailoring each lesson individually for each one of my students. The first lesson with every student begins with a detailed discussion about what they want to get out of voice lessons and the main goals they would like to accomplish and improve on during their study. This helps me shape each lesson to specifically focus on the repertoire, technique, and knowledge that will help my students reach their individual goals. All lessons include learning healthy vocal technique and learning new vocal repertoire, but the lessons can also include learning how to read music, improving sight-reading and ear-training skills, and learning more advanced music theory depending on what the student would like to focus on. I will provide all of the sheet music the students will need during their lessons and I also host a recital at the end of each semester for all of my students to have the opportunity to perform in front of friends and family and show off all of their hard work.
Student Testimonial:
"I have been taking lessons with Lindsey Fuson for almost a year now. Ms. Fuson has not only helped me become a far better singer than I was before, but she also has helped me grow leaps and bounds as an actor and an overall performer. I look forward to each lesson with Ms. Fuson as she creates a wonderful learning environment and a comfortable atmosphere."
